Bulgaria Launches Digital Nomad Visa Program

Bulgaria now offers a digital nomad visa, allowing remote workers to stay and work legally for an extended period.

Bulgaria has introduced a digital nomad visa, joining a growing list of European countries offering legal pathways for remote workers. The visa allows foreign remote workers to stay in Bulgaria for an extended period while working for employers or clients outside the country.

Bulgaria is an attractive base for remote workers: low cost of living, good internet infrastructure, EU membership, and proximity to other European destinations. The digital nomad visa eliminates the need to hop between tourist visas or overstay on a visitor permit. You can stay legally, open a bank account, and build a life without the constant visa-run anxiety.

Bulgaria's digital nomad visa makes long-term remote work in Europe affordable and legal.

To qualify, you'll typically need proof of remote employment or freelance income, a minimum monthly income (often €2,000–€2,500), and health insurance. The visa is usually valid for 1–2 years and may be renewable. If you're a remote worker considering Europe, Bulgaria offers affordability and legal status that many Western European countries don't. Research the specific income threshold and documentation requirements before applying.
