The Schengen area is rolling out a new Entry/Exit System (EES) that will digitally record when you enter and leave the zone. This replaces the old passport-stamp method and applies to all travelers, including visa-exempt visitors. If you're traveling from the UAE, Turkey, or other non-Schengen countries to Europe, the system will log your movements automatically at the border.

The EES is designed to strengthen security and manage the Schengen 90/180 rule—the rule that lets you stay visa-free for 90 days in any 180-day period. The system will make it much harder to accidentally overstay or miscalculate your days in the zone, because every entry and exit is recorded digitally. It also means border officials can see your full travel history across all Schengen countries instantly.
